According to a recent literature review, general HRQoL instruments were not used in any of the clinical trials included. Two observational studies reported the SF-12, SF-36, and EQ-5D-5L. The study found that, of the 18 measures identified, most studies (> 50%) included the Female Sexual Distress Scale-Revised (FSDS-R) and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI).
No instruments achieved positive quality ratings across all psychometric criteria. The only measures to receive a positive rating for content validity were the FSDS-R, FSFI, the Sexual Desire Relationship Distress Scale, and the Sexual Event Diary. Researchers concluded that, in order to provide a more systematic and comprehensive assessment of HRQoL and treatment benefits in women with HSDD/FSIAD, reliable and valid HRQoL measures that include sexual desire and distress are needed.
