Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. In 2020, approximately 1.9 million cases of CRC were diagnosed, and it led to 0.9 million deaths. Its incidence is highest in highly developed countries but is increasing in middle- and low-income countries owing to westernization. Additionally, early-onset CRC is becoming increasingly common. Adoption of healthy lifestyle choices, novel strategies for CRC management, and implementation of global screening programs are critical to decreasing CRC morbidity and mortality in the future. Guidelines vary on the thresholds and intervals for CRC screening.
