According to US Preventive Services Task Force 2021 guidelines, stool-based screening tests and intervals are as follows:
High-sensitivity guaiac-based FOBT, annually
FIT, annually
Stool DNA (sDNA)-FIT, every 1 or 3 years
Conversely, 2019 guidelines from the American College of Physicians recommended that FIT or high-sensitivity FOBT should be performed every 2 years in average-risk adults 50-75 years of age.
