The NCCN recommends postoperative chemotherapy for high-risk, margin-negative, stage IB disease. However, this course of treatment is disfavored for patients with resected 1A NSCLC.

In patients with completely resected NSCLC, adjuvant chemotherapy has improved survival in patients with early-stage disease.
