A recent meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of smartphone app–guided mindfulness exercises on stress and negative emotions in a nonclinical population with emotional symptoms. The results indicated that smartphone app–guided mindfulness exercises reduced negative emotions (standardized mean difference [SMD], -0.232), depressive symptoms (SMD, -0.367), and most significantly, anxiety symptoms (SMD, -0.490).
