After reviewing meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials that focused on MBIs, Goldberg and colleagues found that across most PICOS, MBIs were superior to passive controls (eg, wait-list ). Further, MBIs were similar or superior to specific evidence-based treatments and active controls (eg, other therapies). Typically, few consistent moderators were identified, and heterogeneity was moderate. Although other important sources of bias were identified, results were generally robust to publication bias. Adverse effects reporting was inconsistent.
