According to its manufacturer, mifepristone is contraindicated in patients taking long-term corticosteroid therapy. Neither the copper T380A intrauterine device nor the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (Mirena) is contraindicated in women taking cortisone. Norethindrone is a progestin-only contraceptive that is safe with cortisone and other corticosteroids.
