Worldwide, hypothyroidism affects as much as 5% of the general population, with as many as 5% of cases remaining undiagnosed. The most common treatment is levothyroxine, a human-made replacement for thyroid hormone the thyroxine (T4). This drug acts just like the natural hormone that the thyroid gland makes when it functions normally; however, concerns about overprescribing have led to reexamination of long-standing practices.

How much do you know about levothyroxine and other thyroid drugs? Test your knowledge on recent research and other key clinical considerations with this short quiz.
