Uncorrected adrenal insufficiency is a contraindication for the use of levothyroxine. Another contraindication is hypersensitivity to thyroid hormone or other ingredients.
The manufacturer reports no contraindications for myxedema coma when levothyroxine treatment is administered via injection. Uncorrected adrenal insufficiency and thyrotoxicosis are contraindications for levothyroxine, but corrected adrenal insufficiency is not.
