A recent systematic review and meta-analysis compared motor control, isometric, and isotonic trunk training intervention methods for reduction of disability, pain, and re-injury risk among patients with CLBP. The researchers found that both isometric and motor control methods may result in larger pain reduction in patients younger than 40 years compared with those over 45. Because some participants with a mean age of 40-45 years had a closer physiology to those younger than 40 years or older than 45 years, that group was not analyzed separately to remove uncertainty in their classification.
