Investigations show that high doses of NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, can cause tinnitus and mild to moderate hearing loss. Other adverse effects reportedly associated with this medication include:

  • Constipation

  • Dizziness

  • Edema

  • Epigastric pain

  • Fluid retention

  • Headache

  • Heartburn

  • Nausea

  • Rash

  • Vomiting

  • Acute renal failure

  • Agranulocytosis

  • Aplastic anemia

  • Erythema multiforme

  • Erythematous macular rashes

  • Exfoliative dermatitis

  • Hemolytic anemia

  • Neutropenia

  • Thrombocytopenia

  • Toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome) and photosensitivity reactions
