While this patient is symptomatic, antihypertensive medication should be continued, per sick day rules. In fact, continuation with an appropriate antihypertensive (and lipid-lowering regimen) is extremely important in this setting. The continuation of treatment for patients taking ACE inhibitors and angiotensin 2 receptor blockers is strongly recommended by the European Society of Cardiology.
