Substituting methylphenidate products on an mg-per-mg basis is not possible owing to their varying pharmacokinetic profiles and methylphenidate base compositions. When switching methylphenidate products, discontinue existing treatment and titrate the new product using a titration schedule. All patients benefit from routine administration of medications, but not all stimulants need to be taken in the morning with food.
