CCBs with strong CYP3A4 inducers, such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, St John's wort, phenobarbital, rifampin, and rifabutin, significantly reduce nifedipine efficacy. Other contraindications include cardiogenic shock and sensitivity to CCBs.
