According to a systematic review and nonlinear dose-response meta-analysis of data from 1,853,610 adults, individuals who included regular physical activity in their weekly routine had an 11% lower risk for infection with SARS-CoV-2 compared with their inactive peers. These physically active adults also had a 36% lower risk of being hospitalized, a 44% lower risk for severe COVID-19 illness, and a 43% lower risk of dying from COVID-19 compared with those who were inactive.
