Underlying health conditions prior to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection can contribute to a high risk for long COVID. This patient's asthma is one comorbidity known to increase the risk for long COVID. Other factors that can contribute to a high risk for long COVID include severe COVID-19 illness, especially hospitalisation or admission to the intensive care unit, and lack of vaccination.
