The guidelines recommend managing patients with low-risk disease by performing a digital rectal examination every 12 months. They do not recommend the use of multiparametric MRI as an initial screening tool. The guidelines say that active surveillance should be offered to patients with life expectancy > 10 years, and serum PSA assessment should be conducted every 6 months.
