Gastroparesis causes belching along with abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Pyloroplasty treats gastroparesis, improving the symptom of belching. Belching increases after gastric bypass surgery including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy over time. Appendectomy has no appreciable long-term effect on belching.
