Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can guide treatment for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and various new US Food and Drug Administration approvals of CGM devices have cleared the way for their clinical use. Updated clinical practice guidelines from the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes now strongly recommend the widespread use of CGM devices wherever they are available. Other expert opinions have highlighted the use of these devices in replacing standard monitoring and for their preventive care potential in high-risk patients.
