Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia, with prevalence increasing at a dramatic rate. To date, there are no curative treatments available once diagnosis is made. However, current treatment options might slow disease progression. As such, early diagnosis is imperative. Current diagnostic practices are evolving to better predict disease risk before symptom onset and functional impairments. The continued development of biomarkers for widespread use of early detection of AD, particularly to identify disease risk and subclinical disease, are imperative.
