Glaucoma is an eye condition defined as an optic neuropathy for which increased intraocular pressure (IOP) is a significant risk factor. Although angle-closure and open-angle glaucoma are most common, at least eight other types of glaucoma exist. New research and treatments for the various types of glaucoma are constantly advancing, and in many cases, treatment success may be subtype- or patient-dependent.
